Cayo
Coco and Cayo Guillermo are located off the northern coast of Cuba, and
Cayo Largo is located in the south next to la Isla de la Juventud. All
three
islands remain intact with their original majesty, untouched by the hands
of time. Their isolation and distance from the mainland is the
reason they have managed to stay so beautiful.
Littered
with white-sand beaches that are bright and brilliant in the strong
Caribbean sun, with mangroves and coconut trees as their protective
backdrop. There is a radiance and solitude here that is exclusive to
the Keys.
The
surrounding sea is as clean and clear as a mountain stream, beneath whose calm, turquoise waves
lie
beautifully preserved coral reefs and a rich ocean life. The diving
and snorkeling here can only be compared to the that of the Great Barrier
Reef in Australia. On land the abundance of flora and lack of
development create the perfect atmosphere for the vast numbers of birds
that visit here.
The
sheer beauty and tranquility of the keys has inspired many writers of notoriety,
finding solace they have produced some of their most memorable work.
It is not difficult to understand why many people find themselves
returning to these pieces of paradise year after year.
